McPhee design and manufacture truck-mounted concrete mixer units. In operation since 1971, and dominant in their sector almost ever since, the business remains a family concern with a workforce of around eighty people. That means it has a tight-knit culture – and an excellent track record that it is both proud of and eager to maintain. With their eye always on the future, DMA’s services have proven key to the business’s growth and improvement over time.
McPhee engaged our MD, Charlie Beaumont, to source the company a Sales Director – a special challenge in addition to the usual sensitivity of such a search, since there are limited companies operating in the UK with relevant experience: perhaps six at most! McPhee were open to looking outside the industry, however, and with our trademark creativity, we spread our client target list outside their immediate sector. We built a long list of clients and ran through our rigorous process before submitting three very strong potential candidates. Ultimately, McPhee hired from their competitor – and we were on hand to manage the challenges that this created. Throughout, we stayed very close to the successful candidate, keeping them as informed as our client – and they remain in post today.
